This is a subject which really deserves a section of its own, but let’s start by defining the genre within our ‘Photographic Memories’ Room. Because, every one of these special trees deserves to be preserved as a photo at least, taken by one of us, at some time, in some place around the world, etched forever in our memories.
Some of these trees we visit regularly. Others, maybe one day, we will revisit, stare at in wonder, revive old emotions. Most of them were here long before us and most - hopefully - will be here long after we’re gone. Maybe our children, or maybe even their children, will take a pilgrimage to some of them, and maybe they will see and feel something in them, the same way that we once did.
It’s a work in progress of course. Great trees are reference points, as we navigate through our lives. New ones join our virtual, arboreal, Hall of Fame as good fortune occasions us upon them. Our ‘Avenue of Fame’, maybe?
It’s not too strong a word to say we do kind of worship them. Not like druids might perhaps, but they do, in our view, deserve a level of devotion - perhaps even more - than we might show to a cathedral, or work of art surely?
After all, they’re living things, often ancient things, with memories, stories to tell, storms they have withstood, wars that have been fought around them, love and laughter for generations shared in their presence. The senior ones amongst them have evolved through time and seen more than most humans will ever see. They deserve our respect.
Unlike most humans, they look as stunning naked as they do in their full regalia. Unlike most of us, they’re not ashamed to let us see them that way. They have a confidence which endures and amazes us, as they reinvent themselves on an annual basis. If only we could do that!
We would like to tell you the story behind each of our tree-pics above. We’d also like to invite you to join our Arboretum of stories…and include, if you’d like, your own tree-stories as well?
Let us know and we’ll give you access too!

A great idea. Trees deserves this recognition ✨
